Federal programs
The U.S. Small Business Administration is a United States government agency that provides support to entrepreneurs and small businesses. If you are an employer facing layoffs and company closures, we offer transition and re-employment services to you and your employees at no cost. Depending on the number of workers affected by your layoff, we may be able to provide your employees with early-intervention and support services.
Mass UI Claims
The Mass Claims program streamlines the unemployment benefits claims process for employers faced with layoffs (permanent or temporary) of 10 or more employees at one time and takes some of the burden off the employees filing. For information on how to file a mass claim, or to obtain the required mass claim spreadsheet, mass claim agreement letter, and/or user guide:
Rapid Response Services
When businesses close plants or lay-off workers, Workforce Solutions of Central Texas can provide immediately on site services to assist workers facing job losses. Rapid Response provides early intervention assistance designed to transition workers to their next employment as soon as possible.
Shared Work Program
The Shared Work Program is a TWC Rapid Response effort providing an alternative to mass layoffs. It is intended to assist employers/businesses in Texas who are experiencing a work slow-down (or possible shut down).
The program is employer driven, meaning they have flexibility to implement their own plans. Shared work allows employers to supplement their employee’s wages lost because of reduced work hours with partial unemployment benefits. Employers can reduce normal weekly work hours by at least 10% but not more than 40%. Employees who qualify will receive both wages and shared work unemployment benefits.
