Accelerated Skills Attainment Program (ASAP)

The Accelerated Skills Attainment Program (ASAP) is used for short-term training of fewer than 16 weeks that results in an industry-recognized certification. Further, ASAP will only be supported by Workforce Solutions of Central Texas if there is an employer or group of employers that have confirmed there are job openings in the training area and that they will hire from the job seeker trainees.

Employers, working with Workforce Solutions of Central Texas staff, can use our Community Colleges, the Eligible Training Provider system, or they have the option to select a training provider that is better prepared to train for the business’ occupational requirements. Funding can cover training including tuition, books, fees, testing costs, and work-related expenses.

Skills Development Fund

The Texas Workforce Commission provides the opportunity for businesses to partner with their local community college to apply for training dollars through the Skills Development Fund (SDF). The Skills Development Fund program assists businesses, business consortiums, and trade unions by financing the design and implementation of customized job-training projects. This fund successfully merges business needs and local customized training opportunities into a winning formula to increase the skill levels and wages of the Texas workforce. The grant provides:

  • Up to $500,000 per business (more for consortiums) for customized training needed by the business.
  • Target average cost per trainee of $2,000.00.
  • Training for full-time, regular employees

Texas Industry Partnership Program

The Local Workforce Development Board applies for the grant and collaborates with eligible Private Industry Partners to receive funding to provide high-demand occupational job training in their local workforce areas. Boards receiving grants will match dollar for dollar (up to $150,000) of Industry Partners’ funds to support Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) – allowable, high demand job training activities and related direct costs in these designated industry clusters:
